Good afternoon,

I hope you had a great Fall Break! I got to spend time with my family seeing Austin, Georgetown, and the chaos of ACL. We got to see the bats, the river, Blanton Museum of Art, the Capitol, and University of Texas! Also, so much food!

We are in the final push! We have 2 rehearsals this week, and then 1 next week and then UIL! The schedule for UIL will be below!

10/16 4:30-6:30 pm

10/17 4:30-7:30 pm

10/18 Georgetown Game (Pep Rally that day)

10/21 Final Rehearsal before UIL 4:30-7:30 pm

10/22 Region UIL at the PField (performance time: 8:00pm)

Communication/Updates: For parent communication, please sign up for notifications through Parent Square. Most of our short-form communication (arrivals/departures/updates) will be through Parent Square which is connected to Skyward. Once the game is over, a notification will be sent out. Please be at the school to pick up your student at least 20 minutes after arrival time. Please do not park in the bus lane for pick-up after rehearsals or events.

Important: Book for band class. Needed ASAP! This year we are again using the Habit’s of a Successful Musician book in our band classes. Most families have already done so, but if you have yet to purchase one for your child please do so at this link. While the book can be found on Amazon and other sites, many students pursued that last year only to receive the incorrect instrument book. Please purchase directly from the GIA Publications website to ensure you receive the correct instrument book.

Parents (especially freshman parents), you are invited to join us at every event! Come join us and see firsthand what all it takes to run this band. It’s also a great opportunity to meet other band parents! As always, call or text me directly if you need anything.

DO NOT PARK IN THE BUS LANE FOR PICKUPS AND DROP OFFS - The band crosses back and forth. This is a danger to them. Pass the word.

¡Espero que hayan tenido unas excelentes vacaciones de otoño! Pude pasar tiempo con mi familia visitando Austin, Georgetown y el caos de ACL. ¡Pudimos ver los murciélagos, el río, el Museo de Arte Blanton, el Capitolio y la Universidad de Texas! ¡Además, mucha comida!

Comunicación/Actualizaciones: Para comunicarse con los padres, regístrese para recibir notificaciones a través de Parent Square. Una vez que finalice el juego, se enviará una notificación. Esté en la escuela para recoger a su estudiante al menos 20 minutos después de la hora de llegada. No se estacione en el carril del autobús para recogerlo después de los ensayos o eventos.

Libro para la clase de banda: Este año, nuevamente estamos utilizando el libro Hábitos de un músico exitoso en nuestras clases de banda. La mayoría de las familias ya lo han hecho, pero si aún no ha comprado uno para su hijo, hágalo en este enlace. Si bien el libro se puede encontrar en Amazon y otros sitios, muchos estudiantes lo hicieron el año pasado solo para recibir el libro de instrumentos incorrecto. Compre directamente desde el sitio web de GIA Publications para asegurarse de recibir el libro de instrumentos correcto.
