EVPB Week of 5/26

05-26-25

Hello Students and Parents,

We hope that you have had a great ending to your 2024-25 school year! Our program has seen much growth and many successes this year. The directors and staff of the EVHS Band program are so proud of what the students have accomplished this year. As always, however, when one chapter ends another begins.

This upcoming week there is much to do! Please continue reading below to find all of the information needed for this next week and summer band. This will be the last official communication of the 2024-25 school year.

Booster Hub

A note on registering (please read…very important)

Families should register ONE account, but MUST include separate student and parent information (name and email address). Parents and students should use a non-GISD email address that they check regularly, as this is one of the ways we communicate with families. Please see this video on how to register. Click here to register. If you need to re-register, that is fine. We will fix it on our end.

All items to purchase will be sent out mid-June. We will also send an order form for new members to insert sizes and returning members to order new items. Please look for this email and fill out the form as soon as you get it. We will order what we have by July 1, and those who did not submit an order will not receive their items until mid-August or September.

Spring Camp

We are excited for our spring camp this coming Tuesday and Wednesday. Check the schedule below for times. Students should bring with them something comfortable to wear, as they may be moving around, doing light physical activities, from time to time. We ask that students wear close-toed shoes, shorts, and a comfortable shirt (no crocs, no jeans, follow GISD dress code). Students should also bring the following:

  • Instrument and accessories
  • Empty binder with sheet protectors (approx. 30)
  • A pencil and pencil pouch
  • A full water bottle
  • A Lunch
  • An open mind ready to play some music!

The daily schedule will look similar to the following:

  • 8:30 am - 11:30 am: Introductions, equipment check-out, music fundamentals introduction
  • 11:30 am - 1 pm: Lunch and section time
  • 1 pm - 3:50 pm: music fundamentals, work through traditionals, pep tunes, and show music, team building
  • 3:50 pm: Wrap up and dismiss

Students will not be allowed to leave campus for meals. Parents should pack students a lunch for their child. Many of the binder items students will have from their previous band years. We do ask that all previous years band music be emptied from the binders - keep the sheet protectors - so we can start new.

Band Camp

See the attached PDF for when camp begins for your student. Some days are percussion only, leadership only, or full band. ALL students will be back with us on August 1 so we can begin to learn our show.

August 6-9 and 11 and 12 our schedule may change pending our schools staff professional development schedule. We will update as soon as we have information.

Props

If you, the parents, would like to help out the band, but aren’t sure where to fit in, come and help us with props. We are going to have a 30 minute prop meeting on Wednesday afternoon from 4:15 pm - 4:45 pm. If you are interested, come on out and let us know! If you are unable to make it, please reach out to Mr. Poindexter @ Brant Poindexter.

Orlando Trip

Sign-ups are still open for the Orlando Trip. Official registration ends on June 6, so register today so your child has the experience of a lifetime. We are spending 3 full days at Disney and 2 full days at Universal. They also get to work with the Imagineers and record an official Disney Soundtrack that they will sync with video and send to us! Don’t let your child miss his opportunity! Families can also sign-up to chaperone if they wish. Click here for the Drive Folder with all of the documents.
