Hello EVPB Family!

What a busy and fantastic week we had last week! Between camp days, GISD Convocation, Freshmen Orientation, a Saturday rehearsal, and the DCI Watch party, our students seem to be having a great time. Thank you to the families for transporting students and to the students for taking these events in stride and showing the community how fun band can be! We have a busy week ahead of us, but our schedule evens out pretty quickly.

Picture Make-Ups

If you missed your picture retakes, you must schedule a time to go by the studio. The webpage for the studio is here. Please call the studio ASAP to schedule a time so your student can be in the composite picture. If you reschedule past September 1, they will not be put in the composite picture that hangs in the band room. 

March-a-Thon

Our March-a-Thon is doing great! If you have yet to input 8 names, please do so before Monday! IF EVERY MEMBER of the band inputs 8 names by TOMORROW, the boosters will buy the entire band Kona Ice for the end of rehearsal on Tuesday! We have almost surpassed last year’s total in less than a week, keep it up!

Band Dues

Please be sure you are staying up to date on your band dues. The majority of our program’s expenses are due in the beginning of the year. Your timeliness of paying what you are able to ensures that we, as a program, stay in the positive with our bank. Updated invoices will be sent out before Friday. 

Lessons

There are still a few spots open for private lessons. Sign up for lessons here! Once you sign-up, a lessons teacher will reach out to the family to set-up a time. 

Austin News Opportunity

Late last week, I was approached by our principal and communications department that KXAN, Austin News, would be on OUR campus filming things for the first day of school. They want to film rehearsals/practices happening that morning. They plan to film football and US!! We are excited for this opportunity, however it means we must schedule a last minute rehearsal. Take heart, we do not do this often, and only will do it if there is some benefit to the program. In this case, it is program exposure to the community, especially during our fundraiser! We WILL be having rehearsal that morning from 7:15 am - 8:10 am. Please dress appropriately for rehearsal and note that you will have time to get ready for the school day afterwards. ALL STUDENTS are expected to attend, especially because we are going to be on the news.

Rehearsal: 7:15 am - 8:10 am

First day of school! (A day: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 8th periods meet. Those with band first period will begin @ 8:40 am this day, but all other days will be 8:30 am)

Friday

Friends and Family Show! (we are treating this like a football game day, ALL students are expected to stay after school until the event is over. Read the schedule below for more details)

ATTIRE: Red Tech, Black EV Shorts, athletic shoes, long black socks

4:00 pm - school ends

4:30 pm- dinner provided to students

5:20 pm- push to field at EV Stadium

6:00 pm - Rehearse at EV Stadium

8:00 pm - Friends and Family Show begins

8:30 pm - Event ends and push back to the band room

8:45 pm - Students released to go home

Meet the Patriots

Meet the Patriots - Saturday August 23 - is hosted by our Football team. We have been asked to have our Drum Line perform at the beginning of the event. Our drum line students will get more information about times from Mr. Blezinger. 

Students will be fed for performing. Parents/families wanting to attend the event must either: 1.) Pay a $5 entry fee to watch (no food included) OR 2.) Pay $25 for entry AND food. The cost is for 1 person.

Below are our concert/parades dates for the year. Please mark these on your calendar. Students MUST attend all concerts/parades and concert rehearsals. Please check the calendar for marching contests and football dates, as those are also mandatory.

¡Hola, familia de EVPB!

¡Qué semana tan ajetreada y fantástica tuvimos la semana pasada! Entre los días de campamento, la ceremonia de graduación de GISD, la orientación para estudiantes de primer año, un ensayo el sábado y la fiesta de observación de DCI, nuestros estudiantes parecen estar pasándolo genial. Gracias a las familias por transportar a los estudiantes y a los estudiantes por tomarse estos eventos con calma y mostrarle a la comunidad lo divertida que puede ser la banda. Tenemos una semana ajetreada por delante, pero nuestro horario se equilibra rápidamente.

Si no pudo retomar sus fotos, debe programar una cita para pasar por el estudio. La página web para... estudio aqui.Por favor, llame al estudio lo antes posible para programar una cita para que su estudiante pueda aparecer en la foto compuesta. Si reprograma después del 1 de septiembre, no aparecerá en la foto compuesta que cuelga en la sala de la banda.

Maratón de Marcha (recaudación de la banda)

¡Nuestro Maratón de Marcha va de maravilla! Si aún no han enviado 8 nombres, ¡por favor, háganlo antes del lunes! Si TODOS los miembros de la banda envían 8 nombres para MAÑANA, ¡los promotores comprarán a toda la banda Kona Ice para el final del ensayo del martes! Casi hemos superado la cifra del año pasado en menos de una semana, ¡sigan así!

Cuotas de la Banda

Por favor, asegúrense de estar al día con sus cuotas de la banda. La mayoría de los gastos de nuestro programa vencen a principios de año. Su puntualidad en el pago de sus cuotas garantiza que, como programa, mantengamos una buena relación con nuestro banco. Las facturas actualizadas se enviarán antes del viernes.

Oportunidad en Austin News

A finales de la semana pasada, nuestro director y el departamento de comunicaciones me contactaron para informarme que KXAN, Austin News, estaría en nuestro campus grabando el primer día de clases. Quieren filmar los ensayos y prácticas de esa mañana. ¡Planean filmar fútbol americano y a nosotros.! Estamos entusiasmados con esta oportunidad; sin embargo, esto significa que debemos programar un ensayo de último minuto. ¡Anímense! No lo hacemos a menudo y solo lo haremos si hay algún beneficio para el programa. En este caso, se trata de dar a conocer el programa a la comunidad, ¡especialmente durante nuestra recaudación de fondos! Tendremos un ensayo esa mañana de 7:15 a. m. a 8:10 a. m. Por favor, vístanse apropiadamente para el ensayo y tengan en cuenta que tendrán tiempo para prepararse para la jornada escolar después. Se espera que todos los estudiantes asistan, especialmente porque vamos a salir en las noticias.

VESTIMENTA: Camiseta técnica roja, pantalones cortos negros EV, zapatos deportivos, calcetines negros largos.

Conoce a los Patriotas

Conoce a los Patriotas - sábado 23 de agosto - organizado por nuestro equipo de fútbol americano. Nos han pedido que nuestra banda de tambores actúe al inicio del evento. Nuestros estudiantes de la banda de tambores recibirán más información sobre los horarios del Sr. Blezinger.  

Los estudiantes recibirán comida para la actuación. Los padres/familias que deseen asistir al evento deben: 1) Pagar una entrada de $5 para ver (no incluye comida) 2) Pagar $25 por la entrada y la comida. El costo es para una persona.

Conciertos/Fechas importantes

A continuación, se detallan las fechas de nuestros conciertos/desfiles del año. Por favor, anótenlas en su calendario. Los estudiantes DEBEN asistir a todos los conciertos/desfiles y ensayos de conciertos. Por favor, consulten el calendario para conocer las fechas de los concursos de marcha y de fútbol americano, ya que también son obligatorios.
