Hello EVPB Family!

What a great first two days of school! We appreciate all of you who came out to our Friends and Family night! YOU are the reason our program is so successful. We want to take a second and thank some people for making the night run smoothly: The parent volunteers that were there to ensure the kids were fed; Michael Greenlee for cooking the food!; ALL of our wonderful band staff that help to teach the students; the students for working to be their best!; and lastly the parents and families for supporting the students choice of music education. 

As of typing this newsletter, our fundraising is seeming to stagnate a little, at just above $20,000. We ask that families continue to seek out people and opportunities to secure donations for our program. Since we can only do 2 fundraisers, your assistance to raise as much as possible is appreciated. Every dollar raised goes directly back to the students!

Show Shirts

We have show shirts!! ALL STUDENTS receive a show shirt as a part of their band fees. If your child would like an extra shirt or members of the family would like a show shirt, please fill out this form. A few things to note before filling it out: 1.) We need the students name on the form 2.) You can submit the form as many times as you need a shirt (i.e. 6 shirts = 6 different submissions).

Class Needs

Ensure your child is set up for success by making sure they have the following items for band class:

• A binder
• Sheet protectors
• A pencil pouch
• Several pencils
• Snacks (salty snacks)
• Instrument accessories (reeds, valve oil, etc.) 
• New this year: Clarinets and Saxophones must provide their own reeds. With a growing program, and an unmatched budget, we cannot provide reeds for our students as we have in the past. Please invest in reeds for your child.
• Habits for the Successful Musician - please get your instrument specific book
• Please use the link attached. Buying from 3rd parties could result in longer delivery times and the improper book being delivered. 

Show Choreography/Pass-offs

Students are expected to learn show choreography outside of class and rehearsal. HERE is the YouTube link for the videos. Reminder, you can slow down and rewind these videos as needed.

Pass-offs are weekly test grades. This is the best way for us to assess the students ability to perform their show at the highest level possible. Please help us by helping your child find a safe, appropriate environment to record their pass-offs. Information about these can be found on their Google Classroom. 

SportsYou

STUDENTS ONLY should sign-up for THIS SportsYou. This will ensure they receive all newsletters AND will be the primary form of communication during the school day. We ask that students use their phone number AND school email address when signing up. Again, this is only for students.

Band Dues

Please be sure you are staying up to date on your band dues. The majority of our program’s expenses are at the beginning of the year. Your timeliness of paying what you are able to ensures that we, as a program, stay in the positive with our bank.

Lessons

Still want to sign-up for lessons? Fill out this form! Once lessons teachers have met with the students, they will begin to reach out to the families. 

Meet the Patriots

Meet the Patriots - Saturday August 23 - is hosted by our Football team. We have been asked to have our Drum Line perform at the beginning of the event. Our drum line students will get more information about times from Mr. Blezinger. 

Students will be fed for performing. Parents/families wanting to attend the event must either: 1.) Pay a $5 entry fee to watch (no food included) OR 2.) Pay $25 for entry AND food. The cost is for 1 person.

Below are our concert/parades dates for the year. Please mark these on your calendar. Students MUST attend all concerts/parades and concert rehearsals. Please check the calendar for marching contests and football dates, as those are also mandatory.

¡Hola, familia de EVPB!

¡Qué buenos primeros dos días de clases! ¡Agradecemos a todos los que asistieron a nuestra Noche de Amigos y Familias! USTEDES son la razón del éxito de nuestro programa. Queremos agradecer a algunas personas por hacer que la noche transcurriera sin contratiempos: a los padres voluntarios que estuvieron allí para asegurar que los niños comieran; a Michael Greenlee por preparar la comida; a TODO nuestro maravilloso personal de banda que ayuda a enseñar a los estudiantes; a los estudiantes por esforzarse al máximo; y, por último, a los padres y familias por apoyar la elección de educación musical de los estudiantes.

Al momento de escribir este boletín, nuestra recaudación de fondos parece estar un poco estancada, en poco más de $20,000. Pedimos a las familias que sigan buscando personas y oportunidades para conseguir donaciones para nuestro programa. Dado que solo podemos realizar dos eventos de recaudación de fondos, agradecemos su ayuda para recaudar la mayor cantidad posible. ¡Cada dólar recaudado se destina directamente a los estudiantes!

Camisetas de la Banda

¡Tenemos camisetas de la banda! TODOS LOS ESTUDIANTES reciben una camiseta de la banda como parte de la cuota de la banda. Si su hijo/a o algún familiar desea una camiseta adicional, por favor, complete este formulario. Antes de completarlo, tenga en cuenta lo siguiente: 1.) Necesitamos el nombre del estudiante en el formulario. 2.) Puede enviar el formulario tantas veces como necesite una camiseta (es decir, 6 camisetas = 6 envíos diferentes).

Necesidades de la clase

Asegúrese de que su hijo/a esté preparado/a para el éxito asegurándose de que tenga los siguientes artículos para la clase de banda:

• Una carpeta
• Protectores de hojas
• Un estuche para lápices
• Varios lápices
• Snacks (snacks salados)
• Accesorios para instrumentos (cañas, aceite para válvulas, etc.)
• Nuevo este año: Los clarinetes y saxofones deben traer sus propias cañas. Con un programa en crecimiento y un presupuesto limitado, no podemos proporcionar cañas a nuestros estudiantes como lo hacíamos antes. Por favor, invierta en cañas para su hijo/a.
• Habits for the Successful Musician Hábitos para el Músico Exitoso: obtenga el libro específico para su instrumento. Utilice el enlace adjunto. Comprar a terceros podría resultar en plazos de entrega más largos y en la entrega de un libro incorrecto.

Coreografía del espectáculo/Aprobaciones

Se espera que los alumnos aprendan la coreografía del espectáculo fuera de clase y de los ensayos. AQUÍ está el enlace de YouTube para ver los videos. Les recordamos que pueden ralentizar y rebobinar estos videos según sea necesario. Las aprobaciones son calificaciones semanales. Es la mejor manera de evaluar la capacidad de los alumnos para presentar su espectáculo al máximo nivel. Por favor, ayúdenos ayudando a su hijo/a a encontrar un entorno seguro y apropiado para grabar sus aprobaciones. Pueden encontrar información sobre esto en su Google Classroom.

Sports You

SOLO ESTUDIANTES deben registrarse en la aplicación SportsYou con este código AQUI . Esto les garantizará recibir todos los boletines y será el principal medio de comunicación durante el horario escolar. Les pedimos que usen su número de teléfono y correo electrónico de la escuela al registrarse. Esto es solo para estudiantes.

Cuotas de la Banda

Por favor, asegúrese de estar al día con las cuotas de su banda. La mayoría de los gastos de nuestro programa se pagan a principios de año. Su puntualidad en el pago de sus cuotas garantiza que, como programa, mantengamos una buena situación financiera.

Conoce a los Patriotas

Conoce a los Patriotas - Sábado 23 de agosto - organizado por nuestro equipo de fútbol americano. Nos han pedido que nuestra banda de tambores (Drumline) actúe al inicio del evento. Nuestros estudiantes de la banda de tambores recibirán más información sobre los horarios del Sr. Blezinger.

Los estudiantes recibirán comida durante la actuación. Los padres/familias que deseen asistir al evento deben: 1) Pagar una entrada de $5 para ver (no incluye comida) O 2) Pagar $25 por la entrada y la comida. El costo es para una persona.

Conciertos/Fechas importantes

A continuación, se detallan las fechas de nuestros conciertos/desfiles del año. Por favor, anótenlas en su calendario. Los estudiantes DEBEN asistir a todos los conciertos/desfiles y ensayos de conciertos. Por favor, consulten el calendario para conocer las fechas de los concursos de marcha y de fútbol americano, ya que también son obligatorios.
