EVPB Week of 26/08/15
Hello EVPB Family!
The first day of school is soon upon us! Let us rejoice in the notion of sending the students back to a place where they can learn, be with their friends, and out of the house for longer periods of time! We are so excited to get back into the swing of the school year.
Buckle up for this newsletter. While it doesn’t contain information for the entire semester, this newsletter contains quite a bit of important information for your student’s success this semester.
The front drive of East View is blocked, and won’t reopen until late Tuesday. When bringing your child to school for rehearsal on Monday and Tuesday, please drop them off at the main gym entrance. Students will enter through door 49, exit the other side of the gym lobby, and go in through the black box. Door 49 is the same door that will be used during rehearsals for restrooms.
Additionally, if anybody has experience welding and is able to procure their own welding rig, please reach out. We would like some assistance with one of our props, and your help will get the prop to the students sooner!

BoosterHub/Fundraiser
Students, please ensure you have the BoosterHub app. Please see the Booster Newsletter below with details on how to sign up for the app. We will start our fundraiser soon and we use this platform to raise money for our program. We will begin this fundraiser on Monday, August 17.
Show Shirts (Uphill Battle)
ALL band students receive an Uphill Battle show shirt as a part of their band fees. This order form is for parents and family. If you would like a show shirt, as a parent, or have family that would want one, please fill out the form. When filling out the order form, do one for each order and include the student name - that way we know which student to give it to for delivery.
Knowledge Pass-Offs
In the EVPB, we have weekly marching band knowledge checks. The directors check for knowledge of the following information: Music memorized at a high level, choreography performed at a high level, step-outs performed correctly. Details and instructions for weekly assignments and expectations/rubrics can be located on your child’s Google Classroom, for band, beginning the first day of school. These assignments are video assignments, submitted through Google Classroom, that occur on a weekly basis - ending before our first competition.
Fall Break
For the first time in a few years, our by-week for football is on fall break! Keep in mind, however, our rehearsals surrounding break are still mandatory. Shortly after we return from fall break, we play Vista Ridge at home, have a Saturday off, and Region UIL Evaluation that very next Tuesday evening at Kelley Reeves in Round Rock. Attendance at our October 8th and 13th rehearsals, just like any other, is crucial to our success at Region UIL Evaluation. If we get a rating of a 1 at Region, we advance to the area round. Please ensure that your child is in attendance for those rehearsals.
Marching Contests
We have 4 marching contests this year! Marching contests are an extension of the school day, as the marching activity is co-curricular to the class. These dates can be viewed on our calendar, but are listed below as well. Contests are graded as performances, which are an overall 70% of the students grade. Please ensure your child has the best chance of receiving a 100% by ensuring their attendance at our contests.
USBands Hays - Saturday, September 26
USBands Killeen - Saturday, October 3
Region Marching UIL Evaluation - Tuesday, October 13
We are 6th in the lineup of Varsity Marching Bands (est. performance time is 8:30 pm- 8:45 pm)
Area Marching UIL Contest (if we advance) - October 31
We are the third band, if all advance, performing on the day. This contest is in San Antonio at Heroes Stadium. More information will be coming your way soon regarding this situation.
Class Info
On Wednesday, 1st Period - Wind Ensemble - will begin at 8:20 am. Starting Thursday, we will begin at the UIL time, 8:10 am. In the first few days of class, we will be handing out the band Syllabus and going over the handbook. Students will bring home a form to be signed, acknowledging these documents. Please take the time to read our band handbook and syllabus. If you have questions about those documents, reach out to a director. Handbook signature pages are due back Monday, August 24, 2026 (the form still says 2025, please forgive us for the oversight).
Friends and Family Night
Friends and Family night is this Friday! Come out to the field to celebrate students, see how they learn, and watch how far they’ve come from day one! The students will stay after school on Friday, be fed, and rehearse afterwards (location pending given WBGT). The event beings at 7 pm in our East View Stadium

FOOTBALL SEASON IS ALMOST HERE!
Our first football game is next week on Thursday, August 28! We are excited to see the East View Patriot Band back in the stands and on the field!
Tickets for Football Games
Remember to purchase your football game tickets online. Tickets can be purchased in several ways:
- Visit the HomeTown Website and create a login. For home games, search for East View. For away games, search for the name of the host high school.
- Download the HomeTown Fan app on your phone and search the same way as above.
- Visit the GISD Athletics Department website to purchase tickets.
WATER BOTTLE REMINDER
Please remind your student to fill their water bottle before arriving at rehearsal. It is still HOT outside, and staying hydrated is incredibly important. Arriving with a full water bottle also helps students get straight to rehearsal and ready to go!
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES ARE NOW OPEN!

Volunteering is a fantastic way to support the band, meet fellow band parents, and make some pretty amazing memories with your child along the way. BOOSTER HUB App
We will communicate mostly through the BoosterHub App and email for reminders on how we can help support our band students in events, games, competitions, etc. All freshman parents must register for the BoosterHub app. A note on registering (PLEASE READ IMPORTANT DETAILS.)
- Families should register ONE account, but MUST include separate student and parent information (name and email address).
- Parents and students should use a non-GISD email address that they check regularly, as this is one of the ways we communicate with families.

VOLUNTEERING: Parents if you are volunteering at any band event this upcoming year, please make sure you complete the required GISD background check at: https://www.georgetownisd.org/community/mentors-volunteers/volunteer. ¡Hola, familia de EVPB!
¡Ya casi llega el primer día de clases! ¡Alegrémonos ante la idea de que los estudiantes regresen a un lugar donde puedan aprender y estar con sus amigos, además de pasar más tiempo fuera de casa! Estamos muy entusiasmados por retomar el ritmo del año escolar.
Prepárense para leer este boletín. Aunque no abarca todo el semestre, contiene información muy importante para el éxito de su estudiante durante este periodo.
La entrada principal de East View está bloqueada y no se reabrirá hasta última hora del martes. Al llevar a su hijo a la escuela para el ensayo el lunes y el martes, por favor déjelo en la entrada principal del gimnasio. Los alumnos entrarán por la puerta 49, saldrán por el lado opuesto del vestíbulo del gimnasio y entrarán a través de la sala tipo "black box". La puerta 49 es la misma que se utilizará para acceder a los baños durante los ensayos.
Asimismo, si alguien tiene experiencia en soldadura y puede conseguir su propio equipo, por favor póngase en contacto con nosotros. Necesitamos ayuda con uno de nuestros elementos de escenografía; ¡su colaboración permitirá que los estudiantes dispongan de él más pronto!
Animamos a las familias a seguir motivando a los alumnos para que salgan al aire libre siempre que sea posible y continúen practicando lo aprendido en el campamento. BoosterHub/Recaudacion de la Banda
Estudiantes, por favor asegúrense de tener la aplicación BoosterHub. Consulten el boletín de los Booster que aparece más abajo para conocer los detalles sobre cómo registrarse en la aplicación. Pronto iniciaremos nuestra campaña de recaudación de fondos, para la cual utilizamos esta plataforma. La campaña comenzará el lunes 17 de agosto.
Camisetas del espectaculo (El show: Una batalla cuesta arriba)
TODOS los estudiantes de banda reciben una camiseta de espectáculo como parte de sus tarifas de banda. Esta forma para ordernar Esto es para padres y familiares. Si usted, como padre o madre, desea una camiseta del espectáculo (el show), o si tiene familiares que quisieran una, por favor complete el formulario. Al hacerlo, rellene un formulario por cada pedido e incluya el nombre del estudiante; así sabremos a qué alumno debemos entregársela.
Evaluaciones Semanales
En la EVPB, realizamos evaluaciones semanales de conocimientos sobre la banda de marcha. Los directores verifican el dominio de los siguientes aspectos: memorización de la música con un alto nivel de precisión, ejecución de la coreografía con gran calidad y realización correcta de los movimientos de desplazamiento (*step-outs*). A partir del primer día de clases, podrá encontrar los detalles e instrucciones de las tareas semanales, así como las expectativas y rúbricas de evaluación, en el Google Classroom de la banda correspondiente a su hijo. Estas tareas consisten en grabaciones de video que se entregan a través de Google Classroom y se llevan a cabo semanalmente hasta antes de nuestra primera competencia.
Descanso de Otono
¡Por primera vez en varios años, nuestra semana de descanso en el calendario de fútbol coincide con las vacaciones de otoño! Sin embargo, tengan en cuenta que los ensayos programados en torno a este periodo de descanso siguen siendo obligatorios. Poco después de regresar de las vacaciones, jugaremos contra Vista Ridge en casa; tendremos un sábado libre y, justo la tarde del martes siguiente, participaremos en la evaluación regional de la UIL en el estadio Kelley Reeves de Round Rock. La asistencia a los ensayos del 8 y 13 de octubre —al igual que a cualquier otro— es fundamental para lograr el éxito en dicha evaluación regional. Si obtenemos una calificación de "1" en la etapa regional, avanzaremos a la fase de área. Por favor, asegúrense de que sus hijos asistan a esos ensayos.
Concursos de Marcha
¡Este año participaremos en 4 concursos de bandas de marcha! Estos concursos son una extensión de la jornada escolar, ya que la actividad de marcha es co-curricular respecto a la clase. Las fechas se pueden consultar en nuestro calendario, pero también se detallan a continuación. Los concursos se evalúan como presentaciones, las cuales representan el 70% de la calificación final del estudiante. Por favor, asegúrese de que su hijo tenga las mejores posibilidades de obtener un 100% garantizando su asistencia a estos concursos.
- USBands Hays: sábado 26 de septiembre
- USBands Killeen -sábado, 3 de octubre
- Region Marching UIL Evaluacion - martes, 13 de octubre–Ocupamos el sexto lugar en el orden de actuación de las bandas de marcha de nivel *varsity* (el horario previsto es de 8:30 p. m. a 8:45 p. m.).
- Area Marching UIL Contest (si avanzamos) - 31 de octubre - Somos la tercera banda en actuar ese día, siempre y cuando avancemos. El concurso se celebrará en el Heroes Stadium de San Antonio. Pronto recibirán más información al respecto.
Informacion de Clases
El miércoles, la clase del primer periodo —el Conjunto de Vientos (Wind Ensemble)— comenzará a las 8:20 a. m. A partir del jueves, empezaremos a la hora establecida por la UIL: las 8:10 a. m. Durante los primeros días de clase, entregaremos el programa de la banda y repasaremos el manual de normas. Los estudiantes llevarán a casa un formulario para que lo firmen, confirmando así que conocen estos documentos. Por favor, tómese el tiempo de leer el manual y el programa de la banda. Si tiene alguna pregunta al respecto, comuníquese con uno de los directores. Las hojas de firma del manual deben entregarse a más tardar el lunes 24 de agosto de 2026 (el formulario aún indica 2025; le rogamos disculpar este descuido).
Noche de Amigos y Familia
¡La Noche de Amigos y Familia es este viernes! ¡Vengan al campo para celebrar a los estudiantes, ver cómo aprenden y apreciar cuánto han avanzado desde el primer día! El viernes, los estudiantes se quedarán después de clases; se les ofrecerá comida y luego realizarán un ensayo (la ubicación está por confirmarse, dependiendo del índice WBGT). El evento comienza a las 7:00 p.m. en nuestro estadio East View.
Conciertos/Fechas importantes
A continuación, se detallan las fechas de los conciertos y desfiles de este año. Por favor, márquelas en su calendario. Es obligatorio que los estudiantes asistan a todos los conciertos, desfiles y ensayos de concierto. Asimismo, consulten el calendario para conocer las fechas de los concursos de bandas de marcha y de los partidos de fútbol americano, ya que también son de asistencia obligatoria.

¡Nuestro primer partido de fútbol americano es la próxima semana, el jueves 28 de agosto! ¡Nos entusiasma ver a la banda East View Patriot de nuevo en las gradas y en el campo!
Entradas para partidos de fútbol
Recuerde comprar sus entradas para el partido de fútbol en línea. Las entradas se pueden adquirir de varias formas:
- Visita al Sitio Web HomeTown y crea un inicio de sesión. Para los partidos en casa, busca «East View». Para los partidos fuera de casa, busca el nombre de la escuela secundaria anfitriona.
- Descarga la aplicacion HomeTown Fan en tu teléfono y busca de la misma manera que se indicó anteriormente.
- Visita al sitio web GISD Athletics Department website para comprar boletos
Recordatorio de la botella de agua
Por favor, recuerde a su estudiante que llene su botella de agua antes de llegar al ensayo. Todavía hace mucho calor afuera y mantenerse hidratado es sumamente importante. ¡Llegar con la botella llena también ayuda a los estudiantes a comenzar el ensayo de inmediato y estar listos para empezar!
